Pickup Field Hockey in DC: Your Guide to DC Dragons' Summer Outdoor Sessions

If you've been searching for pickup field hockey in DC, you've found the right club. DC Dragons Field Hockey Club runs open outdoor pickup sessions all summer long at two of the best turf fields in Washington, D.C. — National Cathedral School and Georgetown University — and every session is open to players of all skill levels, from first-timers to former collegiate and club players.
Whether you're a longtime member of the DC field hockey community, new to the city and looking for a team, or just want to get back on the turf after a long break, our summer pickup program is the easiest way to get involved.

Saturday Pickup at National Cathedral School
Our Saturday sessions run 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM through the summer:
Sat 6/13, 6/20, 6/27
Sat 7/18, 7/25
Sat 8/1, 8/8, 8/15, 8/22, 8/29
Note: There is no Saturday pickup on July 4 or July 11.
Location note: Through July 18, Saturday sessions are held at NCS's Nazareth (Lower) Field, 3612 Woodley Rd NW, Washington, DC 20016. Starting July 25, sessions move to NCS's Ferguson (Upper) Field. Guests can park in the Cathedral parking garage, accessed from Wisconsin Avenue.
Thursday Pickup at Georgetown University
Looking for field hockey pickup near Georgetown? Our Thursday evening sessions run 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Cooper Field on Georgetown's main campus:

Pricing
Single session: $25
Bundle (Saturday series): $20/session
If sessions are cancelled due to weather, low turnout, or facility issues, you'll be refunded in full.

Do I need to be part of a team to play DC Dragons pickup hockey? No — pickup sessions are open to anyone, regardless of club affiliation or experience level.
What should I bring? A stick, shin guards, mouthguard, and turf shoes are recommended. Cleats are fine too, but turf shoes tend to perform better on astro turf.
Is this beginner-friendly? Yes. Sessions welcome everyone from first-time players to experienced club and collegiate athletes.
Where exactly is pickup held? Saturdays at National Cathedral School (Nazareth Field through 7/18, Ferguson Field starting 7/25) and Thursdays at Cooper Field, Georgetown University.
Cancelation Policy
In the event that sessions are cancelled due to low turnout, weather, or other facility issues, session cost will be refunded in full.
