DC Dragons Men Take Home 2025 National Club Championship Title

Newark DE, July 21, 2025

The DC Dragons Men were officially crowned the 2025 USFHL Adult NCC Men’s Champions, closing out a demanding three-day tournament with a statement victory. In a thrilling 5–3 win over Rye Westchester FHC, the Dragons showcased technical skill, depth, and unshakeable resilience—especially after overcoming an early setback loss to the same opponent.

A Wake-Up Call That Fueled a Championship Run

The tournament didn’t start as planned for DC. They dropped their opening match 2–1 to Rye, a rare early loss that forced the Dragons to reset, refocus, and reignite their competitive edge.

“We lost to them (Rye) in our first game, and that was our wake-up call,” said Ethan Skeete, who opened DC’s scoring in the final. “That 2–1 loss flipped our mindset. We hadn’t lost a first game before at NCCs, and it lit a fire under us. Rye’s midfield was strong, so we focused on shutting them down.”

Despite conceding first in the championship match, DC wasted no time responding.

“They scored first, but mine reminded us we were still in it,” Skeete added. “I got a great pass from the other Ethan (Larson), pulled to the right, and lobbed it over the keeper because I knew I couldn’t go through him.”

Skeete’s equalizer shifted the momentum and sparked the Dragons’ attack, setting the tone for the back-and-forth battle that followed.

Flipping the Script Against an Undefeated Opponent

Following their opening loss, DC powered through Pool 2 with disciplined play, cohesive structure, and consistent scoring. Meanwhile, Rye Westchester entered the final undefeated, carrying strong form into the championship.

But when it mattered most, the Dragons delivered.

Their sharp technical execution, quick transitional play, and collective grit proved decisive—particularly in the second half, where DC outpaced and outmaneuvered Rye to secure the 5–3 victory and reclaim momentum from their earlier defeat.

A Championship Built on Chemistry, Skill, and Heart

The Dragons’ path to the title was defined by resilience. From rebounding after an early loss to overcoming an undefeated finalist, DC showcased why they remain one of the most competitive and dynamic men’s sides in the country.

With standout performances across the roster and a renewed fire sparked by adversity, the DC Dragons Men leave the 2025 Adult NCCs as national champions, officially ranked the top men's club in the nation—and with a statement win that will echo into next season.
